Well, there's obvious jealousy between Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Proctor. Abigail still loves John Proctor after having committed adultery with him. When John rejects her, Abigail gets furious. She continually tries to take Elizabeth's place in John's life. She uses her power in the town (falsely accusing people of witchcraft) to get rid of Elizabeth.
