Washing DC Hotel, is this a safe neighborhood?

The neighborhood is really in transition. You are only a few blocks from the New National's Ballpark, so there is a lot of new construction and business opening up, but I would be very careful walking around your hotel at night. You are near some pretty rough, public housing areas, which are high crime areas. Stay the major streets and take the shuttle bus (if they have one) to the metro.
